Description
Whilst yields were relatively low in 2014 due to low rainfall, this was a great year for crafting wines with beautifully ripe fruit and complexity – perfect for ageing. This Reserva is the result of a perfect combination of Tempranillo fruit from different terroirs – the alluvial soils give ripeness and elegance, whilst the limestone-clay soils add structure and silkiness.
The Tempranillo grapes are sourced from 30 year old bush vines planted in the Sierra Cantabria foothills, and along the lower course of the Najerilla river – where soils are part alluvial and part limesone-clay.
The wine is aged for 18 months in 50% French and 50% American oak barriques (new and second year), followed by 2 years of bottle ageing.
