It has rich flavours and aromas of red fruits, raisins and plums, liquorice, cassis, cedar and woody spices. The well integrated tannins give a good structure and it' rounds off with a nicely mature and evolved finish.

Riesling, Gran Reserva, Novas, Chile

Located in the cooler Bío-Bío valley some 500km South of Santiago this hillside vineyard was planted in 2009. Hand picked and transported carefully to the winery the grapes are fermented leaving around 6g/l residual sugar and then 2/3rds of the wine is aged in neutral oak barrels for 8 months to add layers of complexity. The wine is clear golden yellow in colour with fruity aromas of quince, pear, and notes of citrus. Medium-dry the palate has good volume and longitude, and a hint of sweetness that is very well balanced with its vibrant & refreshing lime-kissed acidity.

Grenache Blanc, La Loupe, Pays D’Oc, France

A hidden gem from this rarely encountered single varietal, lovely dry and richly textured palate, it is impressively fragrant with hedgerow flowers and orange blossom. It is a wine made to be enjoyed young and fresh, with a mid-bodied palate rich with flavours of acacia, peach and greengages balanced by a dry mineral finish.

Crianza, Rivallana, Rioja, Spain

Monastrell/Cabernet Sauvignon, Crianza, Castillo de Madax, Jumilla, Spain

Great value, and a lovely example of the excellent wines now coming from central and southern Spain. Monastrell takes centre stage in Jumilla, and here it is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe red fruit on the nose with a hint of toasted spice. Well balanced with black fruit and round tannins on the palate.

Rose, Maison Boutinot, Cotes de Thau, France

The grapes are sourced from vineyards cultivated near to Lake Thau, set in a formerly volcanic region just inland from the sea. This has a particular micro-climate - as the proximity of the water has a moderating affect on the typically Mediterranean temperatures, allowing optimal ripening whilst retaining fresh acidity. The grapes are harvested in the early morning, then the wine is vinified as a classic rosé de presse, with soft pressing and cold fermentation. This luscious and textural blend is very much a food wine; rich currant flavours provided by Grenache and tangy raspberry from Cinsault before a dry and fresh finish.
