Castillo de Eneriz, Reserva, Navarra

Castillo de Eneriz, close to Pamplona, is the Navarra winery of Bodegas Manzanos and from where they produce their excellent range wines from this region. Riesling, Gran Reserva, Novas, Chile

Located in the cooler Bío-Bío valley some 500km South of Santiago this hillside vineyard was planted in 2009. Hand picked and transported carefully to the winery the grapes are fermented leaving around 6g/l residual sugar and then 2/3rds of the wine is aged in neutral oak barrels for 8 months to add layers of complexity. The wine is clear golden yellow in colour with fruity aromas of quince, pear, and notes of citrus. Medium-dry the palate has good volume and longitude, and a hint of sweetness that is very well balanced with its vibrant & refreshing lime-kissed acidity.

Grenache Blanc, La Loupe, Pays D’Oc, France

A hidden gem from this rarely encountered single varietal, lovely dry and richly textured palate, it is impressively fragrant with hedgerow flowers and orange blossom. It is a wine made to be enjoyed young and fresh, with a mid-bodied palate rich with flavours of acacia, peach and greengages balanced by a dry mineral finish.

Crianza, Rivallana, Rioja, Spain

Spicy fruit aromas combine with typical notes of vanilla from oak ageing. Savoury on the palate with hints of roast beef complemented by ripe fruit flavours. Aged for 12 months in American and French oak casks of the Bordeaux type.

Monastrell/Cabernet Sauvignon, Crianza, Castillo de Madax, Jumilla, Spain

Great value, and a lovely example of the excellent wines now coming from central and southern Spain. Monastrell takes centre stage in Jumilla, and here it is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe red fruit on the nose with a hint of toasted spice. Well balanced with black fruit and round tannins on the palate.
