Chateau Gachon, Montagne Saint-Emilion
Chateau Gachon is located on 15 hectares of clay soils, a mere 400m from the world famous Chateau Petrus, close to the hamlet of Pomerol (not a claim one can believe looking at maps of the area, but then they live there). Classified within the district of the Montagne Saint-Emilion. A blend of Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%); this wine is a deep ruby colour with purple hues and has a soft nose of cherry, cassis, and spice. On the palate it is well balanced with a solid tannic structure and a complementary soft mid-palate of ripe fruits such as plums and red berries, well-integrated oak ageing (12 months) add structure and spice to the palate.
Great aromas and taste of dark fruits with good tannins and a long finish.
Gran Reserva, Ondarre, Rioja
The carefully selected grapes for this wine come from old vineyards surrounding the village of Viana, which overlooks the Rioja Valley, in what is now known as Rioja Oriental. The climate is continental with a noticeable Mediterranean influence. The 40 year old, low yielding vines are situated on the slopes which climb up towards the Sierra Mountains at elevations of 600 to 750 metres, where the diversity of the soils contribute to the complexity in the wine.
Ondarre Gran Reserva Rioja has a complex and mature bouquet offering rich fruit aromas, along with hints of spice and notes of raisined fruit layered with tobacco and leather.
Pouilly Fume, Domaine du Petit Soumard, Loire
Pale lemon yellow in colour, with an elegant nose of white flowers and hints of honeysuckle, followed by a palate marked by refreshing acidity, and pronounced flavours of goosberry, green apple, and a pleasing underlying smokiness.
