A rich, rustic red made from a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot & Malbec. Oak aged with sumptuous flavours of blackcurrant, spice and dark chocolate.
The Jonty`s Ducks wines are organically and biodynamically produced and named after Avondale`s team of natural pest controllers – their flock of ducks! Lots of blackcurrant, liquorice, with a hint of dark chocolate and ground coffee. The oak aged wine has an explosion of fruit on the palate and well integrated, elegant tannins to support it. The layers of fruit, combined with a silky finish will leave you wanting more, whilst a lingering after taste makes for a rather attractive finish.
Grapes are handpicked from bio dynamically managed vineyards. A naturally induced, wild yeast alcoholic fermentation takes place in closed stainless steel tanks, adding sumptuous aromas to the juice. Following which a malolactic fermentation then occurs adding richness and complexity to the wine. Finally, maturation takes place in traditional, used French oak barriques. The wine was aged for 12-14 months to soften acidity and polish tannins.
