Description
This vineyard takes its name from “Le Clos du Roi”, as one of the hereditary vineyards of the Dukes of Burgundy. This well-known premier cru is mostly compiled of clay and marl with small limestones and covers an area of around 2.5 hectares. The average vine age is around 55 years old. Having spent 15 months in 228l barrels, this is spicy, and rich with oak. The fruit is powerful and very ripe and bursting with flavour. Blackberries, mulberries and raspberries dominate and the closely knit tannins bind the wine together beautifully. One of the showier offerings from this vintage. No whole bunch fermentation was used here. This wine will age gracefully and should drink well for 10-15 years.
